Start with your MOP milestone
Standard and unclassified HDB flats generally carry a five-year MOP; Plus and Prime flats generally carry a ten-year MOP. Periods when the flat was not occupied can affect your actual date, so always verify your exact milestone with HDB before making decisions based on it. Use our MOP / SSD Readiness Checker for an indicative date.
Stay, sell, upgrade or right-size
Fulfilling MOP simply removes a restriction - it doesn't tell you what to do next. Many HDB owners at this stage are weighing an upgrade to an Executive Condominium or private condominium, a right-size to a smaller flat, or simply staying where they are. See Your Options After MOP for a fuller comparison.
The resale process, in brief
A typical HDB resale involves valuation, listing, offer and acceptance, the resale application via the HDB Resale Portal, and completion. Timelines vary, and buyer eligibility (for both parties) affects how the transaction can proceed - this is worth discussing early with a CEA-registered salesperson.
